The title of the promotion brings back so many great memories for me. I’m sure many of you have recollections of being “beach ready” in the summertime. Living in the northern hemisphere as I do, and in a Zone 3 gardening area – I live in the Canadian prairie region – summer nights are long and lingering. In Manitoba, we have gorgeous summer sunsets, fantastic public parks and beaches, and an almost endless variety of wonderful lakes and rivers. People gravitate to lakes and parks whenever they can during the short summer season, and many folks pack along their favourite reading material.
By the way, select Kobo eReaders are waterproof, such the Forma eReader. It might be worthwhile looking into the various models before you head out for the holiday or vacation season.
As a youngster, I loved visiting the library and was an avid reader. We would often go out to our family cottage on Lake Winnipeg, books and games in tow. My grandfather had specially treated pine cones and he would toss these into the flames to create a rainbow of colour while the grandkids would curl up with books and refreshments around the fire and enjoy the play of light on the cottage walls and ceilings. My reading interests evolved and grew from those early childhood selections, and my recollections of summer are enriched by memories of marvellous stories and great reading materials for entertainment, education, and inspiration.
