Background in Communications
Communicating has been my lifelong profession. When it comes to writing stories, my aim is to invite you into a fictional world to meet new characters and make lasting friendships with some of these “book folks” by the time you reach the final pages. I want to give you a reason to smile, feel engaged, and gain fresh insight into some aspect of human nature that you find interesting.
Before launching my career as an author, I served as a regional marketing manager with an international consulting firm, worked in communications and marketing with universities. Early in my career, I worked in both public relations and journalism and was the co-author and project leader for five non-fiction books comprising The Canadian Breast Cancer Series.
About Me
Born in Alberta and raised in Manitoba, I had a fun childhood and grew up with my family in an old house situated on a lovely river property in Winnipeg. I was fortunate to have the resources to attend university where I earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. After marrying my husband, Art Kampen, we remained in our home city and together raised one daughter and two sons. Our family grew with the addition of their partners and three precious grandchildren. Pets are part of our family life as well. A sharpei, a basenji, and a corgi belonging to our “kids” are members of the family circle.
I love spending time relaxing with family and friends. I like to walk, read, watch movies, and play a few tunes on my 1905 Bell piano. I am a member and past provincial president of P.E.O., an international women’s organization that supports education and leadership for women. When it comes to hobbies, I enjoy gardening in my backyard during the summer and learning from gardening friends in the Manitoba Master Gardener Association.
